Hate the feeling of sore irritated lips? Hate the look of flacking skin under your favourite autumn lippy?Then keep reading because this is my little guide to keeping your lips chap free through out winter.

Step 1 - Exfoliate
Exfoliating your lips is a very important step. It gets rid of the old dead chapped skin and leave the lips soft and smooth to absorb the moisture from the next step. It will also help your favourite lipstick from looking like a peeling mess.




When it comes to exfoliating i use LUSH Bubble gum lip scrub which comes in a variety of flavours. This specific product is sugar crystals which you buff around your lips polishing away all the dead skin. You can then wipe away the excess (or lick off according to the packaging). It smells amazing and tastes amazing and does a bloody good job in my opinion. However you don't need to run out and buy new products you can simply put an old tooth brush to good use by wetting the lips then gently buffing around until they are nice and smooth. After they are feeling nice and soft its ready to move on to the next step.


Step 2 - Moisturise
When peoples lips are starting to feel chapped and sore they rush out and by a tub of vaseline smother it around their mouths and wonder why it isn't helping (Hands up if you do this.. ). Vaseline is a barrier cream so before you apply your barrier you need to inject that moisture back in to your lips keeping them calm and supple.

Every beauty blogger Im sure has a stash of amazing lip moisturisers. Look out for ingredients such as Shea butter and aloe as these moisturise and calm cracked sore lips. Korres lip butters are amazing. Just stay away from anything containing petroleum jelly with a waxing finish which are normally your bog standard chap sticks.

I personally use Blistex relief cream. If you haven't tried these already you seriously need to give them ago they come in different variations but i always tend to stick to the bog standard one. Its says on the packaging 'medicated relief for cold sores, cracked, chapped and sore lips'. Which its most certainly does! It the most moisturising treat for your lips and i have been using this for the last 3 winters and it always works even when my lips are in a very bad bleeding state this always sees me through. I maybe apply through the day but these are thick so i tend to slather my lips in this at night and wipe the excess of when i wake up. I use this as a moisturiser and it keep my lips in tip top condition.. just give it ago seriously its amazing. So now your lips are plump and smooth its time to protect them.


Step 3 - Protect
This is where you need your petroleum jelly/wax based lip products to come in to play. You can bust out your chap sticks which provide a waxy finish to protect your lips from bad weather conditions and stop the moisture from escaping from your lips. These stop the elements from irritating your lips keeping them in the condition you want them.

I just use my good old faithful vaseline pot to see me through the winter because they are in expensive which is just what i need as i seem to lose them like theres no tomorrow. This keeps the moisture in my lips and stops them from chapping while Im out in the horrible wind and rain and when i go in doors to the central heating or the air conditioning in work which ever it may be that causes my lips to chap.


So there you have it. Thats my little guide that has seen me through the horrible winter months and saved me from horrible painful lips. I hope this helps and if you have any tips let me know! Would love to hear them.

Now the winter months are here i find my self 99 percent of the time reaching for a Red lip. Its my favourite colour to wear and 50 percent of my lipsticks are different shades and textures of reds. I was playing around the other night and thought i would share my two favourite shades which i find myself reaching for most often. Now i have pale skin and bleach blonde hair so find that these ones work the best however i will wear any shade of red Im not to fussy.

Left- Rimmel Apocalips- Big bang Right- Sleek-Cherry

The 2 that i have picked are affordable. The first being RIMMEL Apocalips in Big Bang and SLEEK Cherry.



I wont bang on to much about the Apocalips as i think everyone and their nan has seen, heard and tried these. However i must say im a fan of the true bright red colour and i love the glossy finish. They do tend to slide around my face so i don't tend to wear this out to meals or out drinking but for casual wear i love it with winged liner and a pale face. I find it a really statement lip and i love it.




Now Sleek cherry is your darker berry red with a typical matt finish. Its dark and powerful and something people would probably tell me to stay away from as to much of this (as seen in the picture of me wearing it full on) washes me out completely. However I love the shade and i tend to wear this blotted so it gives me berry stained lips which stay all night with out smearing across my face. Sometimes i brave it and wear it darker which then gives it that red/purple appearance. But most of the time i will wear this sheared out slightly to give my make up that dramatic edge it sometimes needs.


Both of these are my favourites for different reasons. I love wearing bright lips and they make me feel like i mean business.. Does anyone else feel like this? 

I love the finish of these and totally recomend that when your nearby check them out they can be found in Superdrug for around a fiver. Bargain! You cand put a price on confidence.

So i thought i would write a review on a product that i have been absolutely loving this month. And that is the Bourjois Healthy Balance powder. When i think of Bourjois i think of the tiny blusher pots which used to be such a novelty when i was a teenager and i have to be honest i always over look the brand as a whole when i go make up shopping. Well when i went recently i actually have found new staples to my collection that i am really loving which i will post about shortly. Ive always had a few favourites that i re purchase but never normally opting for their face products this was a truly pleasant surprise.

The Claim.

Just thought i would let everyone know that ross has started a page on Facebook for his online designs. Today i will be reviewing the MAYBELLINE Fit me anti-shine stick. I purchased this product from TESCO for £9.00 and i have the shade 120 Classic Ivory. This foundation is marketed as a gel foundation stick with an anti-shine core that contains lightweight powders.

My thoughts

Now i must get it out there that i am so disappointed with this foundation. My skin type is normal/combination with acne scaring. I purchased this foundation in the hope of a quick skin brightener which i could apply on my minimal make up days. I was not to fussed about amazing coverage just a nice finish which kept me looking half decent through out the day. Well i got the complete opposite.



I find this foundation hard to apply and blend being very drying and clingy to any small dry patches. Which isnt much of a problem considering it is obviously targeted to oily skins due to the 'Anti shine' claim. Well i do not even have an oil face and this had slid down my face in around an hour with my whole face of making just moving around my face with it.. Eye make up included. Maybe i shouldn't have worn this to work for the first time i had used it. People including customers (CRINGE) kept telling me i had black smudged across my eyes and yes this was my eyeliner which normally stays nicely in place until i take my make up off at night. I never normally powder my face however on this occasion i decided to and that made no difference. I come home to work looking like a grease ball with no make up on and black eyes LOVELY!!!

Now since then i have tried and tested this foundation in many other ways and i can find no use for it. it just looks oily however i apply it and however i try to wear it. Im not impressed to say the least, what a waste of money. What annoys me is this product could be amazing because its a very good concept which made me want to try it in the first place.

Availability/Price

Ive seen this foundation in most stores so they are pretty easy to find. However i do find the shade range is not very good, and some colours being non existent in smaller stores. So if your after this foundation i would recommend a larger boots/superdrug to see the full range of colours.

The price is around £9.00. However you can normally find this in offers like 3 for 2 if you shop around. I do however find that this runs out quite quickly i have only experimented with this foundation on a couple of occasions and have already found that i have used around half of the product. So not amazing for the £9 spent as i find other foundations last a lot longer and this takes a lot of product to fully cover your face. 

Would i re-purchase? 
Definitely not.

Sorry for this very negative review however this has been something that has really irritated me lately.

Hello lovelies

So this update was actually meant to be posted on Monday the 2nd of september however silly me thought it would be easier to film a quick youtube video.. which then turned in to a mission with taking literally days to upload then failing so Ive given up with that and i am just going to write these in future :) So for now this is an update of the last 2 weeks.

So a few positive changes i have made are as follows:

I joined the gym.
Now this was a big step for me as i suffer from anxiety so the thought of entering a new place on my own was a nightmare however i just thought to myself Im fed up of feeling the way i do and making positive changes like this was the only way this was going to change. Now i did not want to fork out on an expensive gym membership until i know i am 100 percent committed and at this stage a fancy gym is wasted on me as at the moment i am only doing minimal exercise. So i just googled council run gyms which most areas normally have and are quite cheap membership. Also if you find your weight is causing you medical problems you can always ask your GP and he may suggest a referral to a gym close to you :) I had my induction and have been given a routine of what i should be aiming to do with a mixture of cardio and weights which i am pleased with. The first few weeks i am taking it easy to try and get in to a routine and on days when Im not motivated as long as i get in there and on a treadmill etc for 10 minutes i will be happy i just do not want to let myself get away with not going at all. I have also been swimming once a week and have been walking around the block a few times a week when i get the chance.

I gave up fizzy drinks.
This is something i have wanted to do for ages. However life just normally gets in the way and i always end up quitting before i have even began. So my mission this time was to cut down however now its been 2 weeks without a drop of Pepsi or sprite and i am feeling so much better for it Im sure i will keep this going. The annoying thing is a love water so Im not sure why i have even been drinking coke as a replacement i just think it was down to a bad habit rather than me actually wanting the fizzy drink. When Ive fancied something other than water Ive been opting for small cartons of apple juice or orange juice. which i know these not particularly healthy as they have quite a lot of natural sugar however they are keeping me on the straight a narrow at the moment and not bloat me out or making me feel like crap so for now i am happy with this small change. Its crazy to think how much cutting out fizzy drinks can make a change to the way you feel its not until you completely stay away that you realise it.

Swapping white carbs for wholegrain.
So as i am trying to do this gradually rather than cutting all bad straight away rather than stopping my carb intake i have reduced it and swapped all my carbs to whole meal such as my bread, my rice and my pasta. Little did i know i would actually prefer the whole grain versions so i am very impressed. I have alternated between normal potatoes and sweet potatoes and butter nut squash which i have enjoyed doing. Ive also tried to keep my carbs to earlier in the day or when Im going to the gym and so far this has been working a treat.

Various other changes.
Other changes i have been making is with every meal i have been having a small portion of fruit or veg. For example for breakfast i have been having a handful of blueberries and maybe a cut up apple, for lunch i have been taking a a handful of grapes and maybe some cut up carrot and for dinner will either add a side salad to my dinner and maybe have a yogurt for afters with more fruit added. This has obviously upped my intake of fruit and veg to make sure Im eating my five a day.

To feel like Im not depriving myself i have still be eating out but just making better choices if the menu allows and  just not having dessert or being too greedy. And if i have had a little cheat Ive not felt guilty about as Im doing this for life not as a fad. Which makes me feel like this will be easier to stick to.

Ive brought biscuit tin and filled it with small healthy and naughty goodies. So i can have one of these snacks a day weather it be on the healthy side or a cheat its still a small treat which will help me learn to control myself and know how much i should be having. I will in the future so a blog post on what goodies i keep inside :) As we know life would be boring with out a little treat every now and again.

Overall the last 2 weeks have left me feeling so much better. As Im not weighing myself i can say if i have lost weigh however i feel i have more energy and i am feel so much happier and more positive and i feel less bloated which i am so happy with. When i am feeling like i have no will power i can look back at this post and see the positive changes i have made.

I will also be doing meal posts and various other posts soon. I am learning and like to be researching new ideas that i can try and share.
